Venue
Campinas is the center of a metropolitan region composed by 19 cities, located at the northwest area of S.Paulo, the Capital of the State of S. Paulo, and distant of it 90 km. With an area of 795.697km2, Campinas had 1.059.420 inhabitants in 2007.
Campinas is known as “The Princess of the West” (Princesa d'Oeste) and “The city of the Swallows” (Cidade das Andorinhas), as it was in the route of the swallows in the time of the “Coffee Barons” (Barões do Café). Additional information on the geography and history of Campinas may be obtained at:

Campinas is accessible by several highways, the driving time from São Paulo being about 1 hour. Campinas has also an international airport (Viracopos) that is served by several air companies.
There is a service of buses (Caprioli) from major airports in São Paulo (Guarulhos and Congonhas) and from Campinas Airport (Viracopos) to the center of Campinas. More information about departures and arrivals may be obtained at:

Climate
Campinas is close to the Tropic of Capricorn (23.5°S), which marks the boundary between the tropical and temperate regions of South America. The weather in Campinas in November is very pleasant, with temperatures between 18 and 29 °C and about 160 mm of rains.
