Theaters of PUC-SPThe Theater of the Pontifical University Catholic of São Paulo, better known as TUCA (Theater of the University Catholic), was inaugurated in 1965, with the play "Morte e Vida Severina", written by João Cabral de Melo Neto. It became famous for the political manifestations during the military dictatorship. The theater is comprised of two rooms: the Tibiriçá Audience and the Tucarena. The theater suffered two fires in 1984 that had caused serious damages in its structure. It was reopened in 1986, but the reconstruction was incomplete. It was declared as a Historic site of the city of São Paulo, and restoration commenced again in 2002, and was re-inaugurated in August of 2003. |
